In a nutshell:
Ryster worked in collaboration with fellow designer to create an engaging flash website solution for upmarket full-service exhibition and event agency Ingenious. Web development was the main focus on this particular job.
Challenge:
Cards on the table time. On this project I was rolling my sleeves up and bringing someone else’s look and feel to life using my technical build skills – specifically a mastery of Flash. Making the magic happen in other words. And that’s what I did. The site concept involved using different words representing the brand in an engaging animated intro sequence which led to linked to an innovative, playful and dynamic brochure website featuring traditional navigation content (who we are, what we do, portfolio etc). It was extremely interactive, extremely creatively challenging and extremely technically challenging – I had to use ActionScript code to create dazzling floating effects which were at the heart of the idea.
Solution:
I created primary navigation featuring 5 circles that floated around the page in different directions and random sequences. They came to the foreground when you interacted with them and allowed the user to explore Ingenious’s extensive portfolio of exhibition and event solutions plus other supporting content – including a gallery, news section, biographies and contact details.
Result:
Another one that got away unfortunately. The site never went live as the client opted for a much straighter approach. But I learned a lot from the challenge – and proved that build is sometimes as sexy as design. And clearly my fellow creative on the project thought so too. He has come back with a whole bunch more of tricksy and challenging Flash projects for me to get my teeth into including a full-blooded digital animation project for Pipers Trial.
